News from Leaves of Paper, March 19, 2018

I wanted to give you the latest news on our craft kits projects! Caroline and I spent ages discussing what the kits should include, which projects we thought you might enjoy, and how to present them to you.

Right now our theme for April’s kits is celestial colors. Caroline has origami star garland kits with different sized celestial paper and is working on a tote bag with a lovely celestial surprise. I am designing huge paper flower kits with a celestial twist and a diorama that also reflects our theme. There may even be card kits to continue the theme….

We are also interested in the idea of offering a set of kits for use at a crafting party you host, with the other option being to have us come and teach the craft. This is in response to those who have asked us to do this at craft fairs – and now we are ready to say yes!

There are even rumors of a craft kit of the month, which will include a completely new kit plus bonuses regular shoppers never see!

What is coming in 2018?

What is coming in 2018?

We had a lovely preparing for and attending so many fairs in 2017, and thank everyone who came to see us! We were at outdoor summer shows in Paoli, Malvern, Bristol, Ambler, New Hope, and Lahaska, PA, then Christmas fairs from Emmaus in northern PA to Princeton, NJ, with multiple stops in Bryn Mawr, Doylestown, Ambler (again), Lansdale and Media, PA. Here are a few of the photos we took:

We are now starting to plan which fairs we will attend in 2108. So far we have signed up for fairs in Aston, PA scheduled for April 7 one at Penn Wynne Library on May 6, plus a return visit to Ambler in August. As other fairs open their registration we will keep you posted!

In the meantime we have started to focus on offering classes for small groups. Several times we’ve been asked for group classes, and are now getting our ideas firmed up. They will include creating origami for cards and origami stars for garlands, plus making large paper flowers for party decorations, and maybe making seasonal dioramas – who knows! There will be a booking page on this site so you can book us to come and entertain – I mean teach – you and your friends or coworkers!

Please use the form at the top of the site to join our mailing list so you don’t miss out on news of where we will be – and these classes!

Craft Fair Season is Underway!

Craft Fair Season is Underway!

The first craft fair for 2017 is done! All week long the weather forecast had been for sunny weather, then we woke to rain. It rained on and off all day long, but we still did very well as in the few minutes it was dry, people were eager to see what was under the tarps! Caroline’s Mother’s Day card was very popular. It is up on Instagram but hasn’t made it to Etsy yet, so if you want to buy one, you’ll have to send a message via the contact form on this site.

Here is a brief (and silent!) video of our table. Click on the photo to start the 13 second movie:

New Hope April 2016

We’ve just learned that it is going to rain again next Friday, so need to get used to outdoor craft fairs in spring! You can always shop for our cards, gifts and decorations in the warm and dry at our Leaves of Paper Etsy shop and origami cards, gifts and decorations from this Etsy shop.

First Craft Fair of 2107 in New Hope, PA!

First Craft Fair of 2107 in New Hope, PA!

Upscale Yard Sale Craft Fair

This Saturday it will be our first craft fair of 2017! We will be at the Upscale Yard Sale at Curious Goods, 17 W Ferry St, New Hope, PA. It is a few steps off the main street in New Hope, and easily reached from New Jersey and the Philly suburbs. The weather looks to be beautiful too, warm and sunny. Please come by and say hello to us!

It feels like a lifetime ago that we were doing a string of craft fairs running up to Christmas. From late September to mid-December every weekend we can be found at a craft fair somewhere, and there is a momentum to this continuous movement. Once we stop, however, the momentum fades away. We have been busy making new things to show you since January, but there is still that ‘first day of school’ sense of anticipation now that packing for a craft fair is no longer second nature.

Earlier this week the ‘bag of bags’ went missing. It wasn’t at either house, and yet we knew it hadn’t been thrown away either, so its location was a mystery. In time Caroline found it hiding  – under some other bags of course – so all is well again. We have bags to put your purchases in, tables, clean table clothes, quarters for the meter, and all the IKEA bags of items for sale, ready put in the car on Saturday morning.
